Paint Sequence

February 5, 2004

Here is the car in the homemade paint booth. This is the sealer stage and after wet sanding...

This is base Yellow after wet sanding. It looked pretty good but it’s going to look a whole lot better after the Kandy is painted.

And here it is after the Kandy was applied... The camera really didn’t capture the cool color change but believe me it took a whole new look that’s just incredible!

Here is the nose stripe plus I just had to put the vents on to get the whole picture! Next is the clear. I need to clean up the paint booth and prepare it. Maybe I’ll get it cleared today, if not tomorrow the 8th.

OK, here it is! I painted 5 coats of clear. I will be wet sanding it and then buffing it in the next few days. I can’t wait until I have the black vinyl top on, tires & wheels and the front end....

Again, the picture just doesn’t capture the true kandy look of the paint and the pearl in the back stripe :-(

Remember this....

Getting closer! The car is now buffed in 3 stages:

  1. Diamond cut with wool pad
  2. Diamond cut with cutting pad
  3. Polish with polishing pad

Next month I will then polish with Zano polish, the worlds best polish!

I will now be installing the vinyl top and trim over the next few days. Hopefully by the Sunday night it will look more like a car.

I really like the black paint from House of Kolor, I’m thinking I might paint the next Camaro with it!

It’s getting closer! I’m finishing the door weather stripping and once the headliner gets here I’ll get the interior in.
