Boise 2004

I finally installed a roll cage and took it to the Halloween Classic in Boise. This was the first time I’ve ever run the car out without lifting and it ran an 11.10@124! Who would of thought 4100 pounds of car can go that fast! It was a rush, the difference between 110 and 124 is huge. I’m sure that with tuning, tire pressure adjustments and shock settings I would’ve got in the 10’s but all I did was drive it.

October 2004

After a cam change and roll cage I went to Boise
 and ran a 11.10@123MPH!

September 2003 Update

I finally hit the 11’s, after adding a secondary fuse box to run the computer, ignition and distributor the car jumped from 12.0’s to an 11.85@115!  Since I don’t have a roll cage I couldn’t pursue a better et, instead I had to close the exhaust cutouts and pull 5 degrees timing. Next year I might have a roll cage so I’ll see if I can better the 11.85. The new  fuse box gave me .6 more volts and obviously more amps.

May 2003 Update

I got the car down to 12.06 but with the new Yank converter I just cant get traction. My 60’s are still 1.85’s with severe wheel spin. I changed my lower bars  to SSM lift bars, this stopped the wheel hop but didn’t help the spinning. I dropped the timing down to 12 degrees between 1500 and 5000 RPM and it really didn’t help. I got was too aggressive converter!

Sep 28 2002 Update

I finally got out of the 12.3’s, I ran a 12.29 and a 12.26@114, the 60’ was 1.886. I‘ll be getting a SuperYank 3500 stall converter for next year, this should get me into the 11’s even with the BFG Drag Radials.. I wanted to stay away from a roll cage but it looks like I’ll have to so I can keep up with my wife’s 67 Camaro!

This video is to let you hear what the Dynomax Ultra Flows sound like. They are fairly quite at idle and cruise but they sure bark at WOT. You  can hear how loud they are even at the end of the qtr mile. AVI version if that doesn’t work

Sep 3 2002 Update

Still stuck in the low 12.3’s with low 1.9x 60’ times. The corrected altitude is still around 7000 feet.

Aug 10 2002 Update

With a little more tuning and practice I got the times down to 12.33@112, my 60’ times are still at 1.94’s

This was the first time out on e.t. night with the Chevelle. It ran pretty good but the wideband O2 indicated that I was running too lean.

The sportsman class I’m in has a cap of 13.00 even though I ran 12.62 in the time trials, so I wasn’t able to do more tuning since I only got one time trial  in.

In elimination’s I had to let off so I wouldn’t break out of the 13.00 bracket. The corrected altitude was between 7900 and 8100 feet! It was terrible. So with a little more tuning it should be in the lower 12’s. Not too bad with a stock stall converter and drag radials.
